I was approached by Lisa Donadio from Playwrights Horizons to help out with one of the new play readings over at the theater. "Seven Homeless Mammoths Wander New England" by Madelaine George. I read stage directions. It was a small job, but it was so thrilling. Walking into that building as a performer is amazing. I didn't quite know how to handle myself. I was pretty intimidated, but the whole thing ran smooth as butter. Such a blast and quite a milestone.
Lysistrata opened to a full house and continued to sell out even on Super Bowl Sunday! People must really love Full Size Puppets.
Ms. Skipitares’s most deft decision may be the assigning of those lead female roles to the puppets. (A few male characters, penises never far out of sight, are puppets too.) After all, Lysistrata & Co. don’t want to be playthings of men and the state, or captives of their own libidos. They don’t want to be puppets on a string. Ladies, welcome to the struggle. - Rachel Saltz, NYTimes
